Isle of Wight Internorm Windows & Doors

For this project, we carried out a complete renovation of Internorm windows and doors on a property located on the Isle of Wight. This focused on enhancing the property’s aesthetics, energy efficiency, and overall functionality to create a modern, sustainable and visually appealing living space.

The Project

Internorm offers homeowners the unique advantage of effortlessly mixing and matching windows while preserving the external design. A perfect illustration of this can be seen in the renovated kitchen-diner, where a striking HS330 2-piece Timber Aluminium lift & slide door takes centre stage. The rich walnut interior timber complements the modern kitchen units, creating a harmonious and inviting ambience.

Opting for Internorm’s lift & slide doors over their previous bifold doors, the homeowners were drawn to the doors’ exceptional thermal efficiency, low maintenance requirements, and generously-sized openings.

Throughout the house, a delightful combination of windows and doors enhances the living experience. The HF410 Timber-Aluminium tilt & turn windows and HS330 lift & slide doors provide a blend of timeless charm and modern functionality.

In the bedrooms, the homeowners requested a unique solution for an uncluttered look, selecting the HV450 Timber Aluminium windows with integrated I-tec Shading Venetian blinds. These blinds, operated via a solar-powered photovoltaic panel, offer easy accessibility and ensure optimal sun and privacy protection.

For the modern entrance, the sleek AT400 Aluminium door (now AT530) was chosen, featuring a PK timber look designer panel, brushed aluminium handlebar, glass panel, and fingerprint scanner, ensuring both style and security.

To guarantee maximum durability and corrosion protection, all aluminium cladding at the property was pre-anodised, achieving a superior marine-grade finish. Pre-anodisation is highly recommended for aluminium-clad windows within a five-mile radius of the coast, making it an ideal choice for this coastal renovation.

Doors Isle of Wight

‘“I really like the style of these windows. I like the chunkiness and clean lines. The windows and doors look like beautiful pieces of furniture. The glass-to-glass corner at the front gives us the most beautiful sea view and creates a real feature.”

Challenges Faced

The main challenge during this refurbishment was positioning the large and heavy window and door panels due to limited access around the building. Specialised lifting equipment was essential for safely installing the first and second-floor panels at the rear elevation.

Given the building’s timber-framed construction, we had to make several alterations to the original window and door apertures. This included incorporating steelwork to support a flat roof and allow for a glass corner detail on the front elevation at the first-floor level. These modifications were vital to achieving the desired design and functionality for the property.

The Project Summary

The customer’s wife is delighted with her new windows and has collaborated closely with her interior designer to create rooms that complement the windows’ aesthetics.

Right from the beginning, the goal was to maximise the house’s energy efficiency. By replacing the original white uPVC double glazed windows and doors with high-performance Internorm triple glazed products, the heating requirement in the house has lowered to virtually zero.
