Our Sustainability Promise

At BJH we offer a wide range of energy-efficient products that help to protect the environment whilst reducing your energy bills. We take many steps to reduce our overall environmental impact by recycling UPVC waste, using energy-saving low-wattage LED lightbulbs, and working with many brands such as CompDoor that strive to be environmentally friendly such as Emplas and more.

Sustainability with Emplas

At BJH we work with the very best brands in the industry to ensure you receive high-quality and long-lasting products. Emplas, one of the brands we work with is renowned for its low maintenance and energy-efficient windows & doors.

Our Sustainable Practices

As seen below, as well as many other steps to being sustainable, half of our office roof at BJH is covered by 50+ 10Kw solar panels, ensuring that we are reliant on renewable energy and not fossil fuels that offer a risk to the environment.

Recycled UPVC Waste

100% of the uPVC waste, such as old windows that we are replacing, is recycled, therefore reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill.

Ongoing Sustainable Measures

We are in ongoing discussions about how to recycle 100% of the glass that we remove. This is an industry issue, and we are taking every step towards ensuring that this is achieved in the most sustainable way possible.

Powered by Solar Panels

The front of the office is 100% triple glazed and utilises integral blinds that are 100% powered by solar.

Energy Saving Lighting

We have changed all the lighting in our office, showroom and factory to energy-saving low-wattage LED lightbulbs to help reduce our environmental impact.

100% Renewable Energy

We use zero gas on our premises, and all lighting and heating are 100% renewable energy.

Emplas strives to be an environmentally friendly and sustainable business:

  • 99.3% of Emplas’ general waste is recycled
  • 110 solar panels on Emplas’ factory roof in Wellingborough power its operations
  • 4 new, fuel-efficient Volvo FM rigid trucks purchased over the last 12 months have lowered Emplas’ environmental impact, with a further 5 more trucks on order. The 18-tonne vehicles combine the latest Euro 6 emissions standards with modern aerodynamics, helping to improve fuel efficiency by 50% compared to previous models.

Emplas only works with responsible supply chain partners with an ethical approach to their operations including Saint-Gobain Glass, Epwin Window Systems and VEKA recycling:

  • Saint-Gobain is committed to achieving net zero carbon by 2050. The float glass furnace at Eggborough received a £30 million upgrade in 2021, after reaching the end of its design life, and is now 20% more energy efficient. 50kt of cullet is also returned to Eggborough each year for recycling.
  • Emplas is the largest nationwide supplier of Profile 22 from Epwin Window Systems. Epwin Window Systems were one of the first UK systems houses to achieve the VinylPlus® Product Label. This labelling scheme makes it easy for customers and markets to identify the most sustainable and high-performance PVC-U products.
  • Emplas works with VEKA to recycle its old and unusable PVCU frames and offcuts. VEKA is also based in Wellingborough so it’s a short, carbon footprint-friendly journey from the Emplas factory to VEKA’s site.
