Internorm Renovation in West Sussex

For this project, we carried out a complete home renovation in the South Downs using Internorm Windows and Doors. The homeowners looked to replace their old, underperforming timber double glazed windows with modern, high-performance Internorm windows and doors to enhance the house’s aesthetic appeal, maximise stunning views and brighten the interior.

This case study showcases how Internorm windows and doors were the ideal choices for meeting the homeowner’s requirements whilst complementing the period building, resulting in a long-term investment to future-proof their home.

Having spent over £5000 every 2-3 years on window repainting, the search for low-maintenance options became crucial, not only to save money but also valuable time. Being located on an exposed site, prone to strong winds, especially in winter, made thermal efficiency and draft exclusion vital factors, especially given the rising energy costs. The Georgian bars diminished the amount of natural light inside the house and obstructed the picturesque views of the surrounding countryside.

The Project

The homeowners reached out to us and scheduled an appointment to visit our showroom, seeking expert advice for their renovation project. They aimed for a transformation that would be both sympathetic and dramatic, opting for natural timber on the interior and aluminium on the exterior.

After careful consideration, we recommended the most suitable Internorm triple-glazed systems for their specific needs.

  • HF 410 timber-aluminium composite tilt & turn windows and single entrance door in design style Home Pure
  • HV 450 timber-aluminium composite tilt & turn windows with integrated Venetian blinds and I-tec Shading
  • HS 330 timber-aluminium composite lift & slide doors.
  • KF 410 uPVC-aluminium composite tilt & turn windows
  • Colours used: White FI916, anthracite grey HM716

For the majority of the rooms, the interior spruce was factory-painted in white FI916, while the exterior boasted maintenance-free aluminium cladding, elegantly powder-coated in contemporary anthracite grey HM716.

The beauty of Internorm systems lies in their ability to seamlessly blend different products without compromising the overall external design. In this instance, the bathrooms and shower rooms were equipped with the KF 410 in white uPVC, featuring external aluminium cladding for a cohesive and stylish appearance.

“Internorm products have made a huge difference to our home, both inside and outside. Our experience with BJH was incredibly positive. From the outset, they understood our brief and the whole experience, from the initial consultation to the installation, was flawless.”

Challenges Faced

With the homeowners having already made up their minds about using Internorm products and being well aware of their preferences, the selection process was relatively straightforward. They were particularly impressed by the array of internal finishes available, which seamlessly matched their existing interior décor.

We carefully surveyed the property to ensure that internal finishes were taken into consideration, especially as Internorm windows are inward opening, and the correct sizes were ordered.

“One of the challenges of this particular flint period property was that some of the windows had wallpapered chamfered reveals, and it depends on the finishing skills of the installer, which in this case was excellent”

Said Alan Hamilton, the owner of BJH who managed the whole project from the initial consultation to handover.
