At BJH Conservatories & Windows, we are constantly striving to provide our customers with the highest quality and most sustainable products possible. That’s why we are thrilled to announce that we have changed our composite door supplier to CompDoor who meets quality standards whilst prioritising sustainability.

Who are Comp Door?

CompDoor are a leading provider of high-quality composite doors in the UK. They specialise in offering a wide range of composite doors that are not only visually stunning but also energy-efficient and durable.

CompDoor, our new composite door supplier uses only sustainably sourced timber in the production of composite doors. This ensures that at BJH we are providing an eco-friendly solution for our customers without sacrificing quality.

They have also worked tirelessly to address common issues such as bowing and delaminating, which means that our customers can expect superior durability and longevity from our new composite doors.

Comp Door, Composite Doors

One of the most significant features of our new composite door slab is that it is made with a completely solid timber core instead of a foam core like our previous products. This unique construction allows our doors to achieve an impressive u-value of 1.4, which is significantly lower than other doors on the market. This means that our doors are highly energy-efficient, keeping homes warmer and more comfortable while also reducing energy costs.

Our CompDoors feature a third seal on the door frame, which greatly reduces any drafts that may come through the door. This feature further enhances the energy efficiency of our doors, making them a smart and sustainable choice for homeowners.

In addition to being energy-efficient, our Comp Doors are practical and convenient for daily use. They come as standard with a slam lock, which reduces thermal movement and helps to maintain an easier and smoother operation over time.

BJH Windows & Conservatories and CompDoor

At BJH Conservatories & Windows, we are committed to providing our customers with the best possible products and services. By changing our composite door supplier to one that prioritises sustainability and quality, we believe that we are offering our customers a product that they can be proud to own while also contributing to a more sustainable future.

What does a Composite Door mean?

A composite door is a type of exterior door that is made from a combination of materials such as wood, PVC, and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP). These doors are designed to offer superior strength, durability, and insulation compared to traditional doors made from a single material.

The use of different materials in composite doors allows for unique features like increased energy efficiency, weather resistance, and better security. They are also customisable to fit different styles and designs, making them a popular choice for homeowners and businesses looking for high-quality and long-lasting doors.

What is the Difference Between a uPVC Door and a Composite Door?

uPVC doors are made entirely of plastic, while composite doors are made from a combination of materials. Composite doors are more expensive but offer superior insulation, strength, weather resistance, and security, with an impressive u-value of 1.4.

On the other hand, uPVC doors are less expensive and low maintenance but may not offer the same level of durability or security as composite doors. The choice between the two depends on individual priorities and needs.

Are Composite Doors as good as uPVC?

Composite doors are generally considered to be as good as, if not better than, uPVC doors. This is because composite doors offer superior strength, durability, and insulation compared to uPVC doors.

Composite doors are made from a combination of materials, including a timber core, which makes them more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly than uPVC doors. They also have a greater range of styles and finishes available, allowing for more customisation options.

However, composite doors are typically more expensive than uPVC doors, so the choice between the two ultimately depends on individual priorities and budget.

What are the Disadvantages of a Composite Door?

While composite doors have many advantages over other types of doors, they do have a few potential disadvantages. One of the main disadvantages of composite doors is their higher cost compared to some other types of doors, such as uPVC doors.

Additionally, composite doors can be heavier than other types of doors, which may make installation more challenging. However, the benefits of composite doors typically outweigh these minor drawbacks.

Composite doors offer superior strength, durability, and insulation, making them a smart investment for homeowners who want a high-quality, long-lasting door. They are also customisable, eco-friendly, and offer better weather resistance and security than many other types of doors. Overall, composite doors are a great choice for those who want a high-quality, low-maintenance door that will last for years to come.

Having only helped run things for a couple of years previously, this was a real baptism of fire! Now 13 years later with the help of co director Colin Giles, BJH has evolved. Going from strength to strength BJH Windows & Conservatories currently employs around 20 staff, some of whom have been with us for more than 20 years. Standing The Test Of Time.
