What Are Lantern Roofs?
A lantern roof is a raised, glazed structure that sits on top of a flat or low-sloped roof, allowing natural light to pour into the room below. Unlike traditional skylights, lantern roofs have a framed structure with multiple glass panels that draw daylight from all angles. This design helps improve illumination in living spaces such as kitchen extensions, orangery conversions, conservatories or open-plan areas.
These glazing features combine functionality with elegance. They create a sense of spaciousness by drawing the eye upwards and are available in a variety of frame materials including aluminium, uPVC and bespoke finishes.
